VFP in a .NET World

Venelina Jordanova, Uwe Habermann

How does VFP compare with .NET? Since Microsoft spends huge amounts of money for the marketing of .NET this is a question many developers ask their selves. Is it worth for VFP developers to spend time with .NET? We did, and you will profit from that.
In this session you will see demos showing how to create projects in .NET in comparison with VFP.
Some first insights in the technologies of Visual Studio 2007 round off this topic.

VFP and Vista

Preparing for the next version of Windows
Each new version of Windows comes with new challenges for the developers. New capabilities of the user interface require new developer tools. Microsoft addresses this with the next version of VFP which is in development under the code name Sedna. An early Community Technical Preview version shows how Sedna interacts with the environment.

VFP and Selling to Clients (I)

Venelina Jordanova, Uwe Habermann

The key features of the recent version VFP 9 SP 1 are the subject of this session. Developers see how to profit from the power of VFP to sell up-to-date applications to their customers. This session is focused on data handling for various data sources and the use of ActiveX controls.

VFP and Selling to Clients (II)

Venelina Jordanova, Uwe Habermann

Most developers develop “just” applications. This session shows the small differences which make an application to a professional application. Customers need to be attracted for a product. VFP makes it easy to create applications with a user interface which can compete with Office products.
Great printouts are the best advertisement for applications. VFP comes with a terrifically enhanced report engine. To get these new reporting features running at the customer site are a subject on its own. This session does not show how to create reports but how to get reports run at a customer’s machine.
